Hands-on, Job Specific

The HVAC program consists of 182 classroom hours and 171 lab hours working under the tutelage of our industry expert instructors. Each day you’ll develop new confidence at your craft. The week-by-week program looks like this:

Week 1

Foundation of a Technician

A well-rounded introduction to the key components that support a safe and successful career in the field of HVAC as a maintenance technician.

Week 2

Environmental Protection Agency

An introduction to the EPA Clean Air Act, EPA Section 608, which focuses on refrigerant handling and containment and certification requirements.

Week 3

Support Technician

Builds upon student’s knowledge of refrigeration and residential maintenance by diagnosing mechanical issues on equipment that the student is performing maintenance on.

Week 4

Residential AC Maintenance

Builds upon the student’s knowledge of refrigeration and performing residential maintenance by diagnosing mechanical issues on equipment that the student is performing maintenance on.

Week 5

Residential Heating Maintenance

Builds upon the foundational knowledge of the maintenance call process when performing maintenance on residential gas furnaces, heat pumps, and electric air handlers.

Week 6

Call Preparation

By diagnosing several of the most common mechanical failures in residential HVAC systems, students build their confidence in finding what has caused the equipment to stop working

Week 7

Testing and Review

It’s so important to make sure our students are prepared for “real world” HVAC work, so we take the last two weeks to thoroughly review and test all the major points.

Week 8

Lab Assessments

Allows students to actively reenact/demonstrate the practical application of skills they have learned in the classroom.
